A pedestrian died Friday night after being struck by a semi-truck near Paauilo, Hawaii County Fire Department officials said.
Information about the victim was not immediately available. The Fire Department said the man suffered multiple traumas after he was hit while crossing Hawaii Belt Road at the intersection with Paauilo Makai Road at 5:30 p.m. He was taken to North Hawaii Community Hospital.
The collision closed the highway, fire officials said.
